How to use it

  1. Write down one task before you press Start.
  2. Work on that task alone until the timer rings. If something else comes up, note it and come back to it in the break.
  3. Take the break away from the screen, then start the next round. After every fourth round, take the longer break.

Keys: Space starts or pauses, R resets. The timer keeps time even when this tab is in the background.

Does the Pomodoro technique work?

The usual schedule is 25 minutes of work followed by a 5-minute break, but the research behind fixed breaks is thin so far. We compare it with six other methods, with the studies, in seven productivity systems side by side. If a timer is not enough to get you started, try deep work for beginners or how to stop procrastinating.
